Struggling to Pay Rent During Covid-19

Half of Asheville households are renters, and amidst the massive layoffs and economic insecurity, people don’t know how they are going to make their rent. Pisgah Legal Managing Attorney, Robin Merrell was quoted in an @AshevilleCitizenTimes article stating that she recommends people use their stimulus check, reach out to nonprofit agencies or any means in which to pay their rent. ““Ultimately, people’s rent is going to become due,” Merrell said. “Courts are going to open back up, and people can be evicted for not paying.” Read the full story here.
