On Thursday, September 28th, more than 1,000 people gathered at UNCA for Pisgah Legal’s 7th Annual Poverty Forum.
The focus of the Forum this year was housing with Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Matthew Desmond, PhD, giving the keynote address.
After, he joined a panel of nonprofit housing professionals who took questions from the crowd and discussed specific challenges in the Asheville metro area.
The following Friday, Desmond returned to open the 2017 Affordable Housing Summit, also held at UNCA, where hundreds of developers, planners, government officials and lawmakers came together to discuss new solutions to the housing crisis.
