CDC Extends Eviction Moratorium to July 31

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended the eviction moratorium to July 31, 2021. The measure was set to expire at the end of June. Pisgah Legal managing attorney Robin Merrell spoke with WLOS about the need for this extension saying that about 30% of people living in the WNC area have fallen behind on rent during the pandemic.
She said this extension is needed so state funding can finally make its way to the families who need it.
“It’s our hope that this will give another month for people’s rent to be paid so that they are not at risk of eviction come August,” said Merrell.
