NC Court Offers New Domestic Violence Protection to Same-Sex Couples

Same-sex couples facing domestic violence in dating relationships now have more legal protections.

The NC Supreme Court recently ruled that survivors in abusive same-sex dating relationships can obtain emergency restraining orders. This nullifies a law that previously only allowed domestic violence protective orders to be granted for same-sex couples who are married or divorced.
