Leaders from Helpmate, Pisgah Legal Services and The Mediation Center spoke to WLOS about the millions of dollars cut from federal grant funding that is used to support services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. They are asking Buncombe County Commissioners to allocate use of American Relief Plan Act (ARPA) funding) to help make up these drastic funding cuts. “This funding is used by Pisgah Legal Services to support about 3,500 survivors every year,” Pisgah Legal managing attorney Julia Horrocks said.
